We spoke English through most of the errand and every 5 feet or so were stopped and asked if we were new immigrants to the area or visiting, and if visiting who were we visiting and did we speak any Hebrew. And of course each interrogator attempted to speak English with us and each told us of a distant relative or friend living in the US. Each chat was friendly enough and made the kids aware of the open and friendly nature of Israelis.
The highlight of the day was a visit to a local beach, Kfar HaYam. My uncle Yoram joined us for the afternoon. The beach was a 5 minute drive from where we're staying and without June gloom looming in the horizon, it was a gorgeous afternoon. The water was warm and clear - the Mediterranean at its best.

When we made it home this afternoon, I thought we were home free with the jet lag - my plan was an early dinner for the kids, a warm bath and then a decent bed time BUT then the inevitable occurred: I passed out at 7 pm! I had a headache and just needed a few minutes of rest but just couldn't hang on. I woke up a few hours later to find Andrew asleep and Adam on the desktop in the next room gaming away! Hopefully they weren't disruptive to everyone while I lay in the land of the oblivious. I did make Adam come to bed and he did fall asleep and is now snoring, right here, next to me in bed! So hopefully the kids have made it through the worse of the time change and jet lag - but here I am awake at 1 am! Maybe tomorrow will be the day?
