Apollonia is an ancient crusader city and fortress just north of Tel Aviv. Today, that was our main tourist stop. We hiked the ruins and enjoyed the stunning views - to the South all of Tel Aviv was visible and in ancient times it would have been the port city of Yafo that the inhabitants of Apollonia would have been looking at. To the North we could see Netanya and just beyond that, the Apollonians would be watching over Caesarea. The kids and I love discovering the history of Israel and loved being able to discuss the port cities of ancient times.

We also explored the Herzlyia marina, which was accessed through the Arena mall (most of the stores were American chains, including Nautica, Polo, Nine West and Gap!).
During our walks, Adam told me that he likes Israel because he has been able to try many new things and that he has liked most of them: Shwarma, bell pepper, humous, Kinder Joy, cheese pita toast. Andrew's favorite food has been Meme's homemade chocolate cake -although he does think the Shwarma is not half bad!
Now we are ready and waiting for Gabe to arrive - all a bit bittersweet.... sweet because we have missed him so much and bitter because it also marks the last week of our time in Israel. We'll just have to make the best of every moment.
